After playing through the tutorial mission for the first time, I still wasn’t very confident in my abilities as a contract assassin, but hey, that’s what easy difficulty mode is for, right? Thankfully, the first mission in the game is a very in-depth tutorial that taught me all about the abilities and weapons in Agent 47’s arsenal. Because of this, I wasn’t entirely sure what the game was about, or what the best plan was for completing my assigned missions. As I mentioned previously, Blood Money is one of my top two games in the entire franchise as such, it’s the one I’ve played the most extensively, so you’ll find that I have quite a lot to discuss about it.Īs I mentioned in the first paragraph of this review, Blood Money was my first encounter with Hitman as a series.

Now that I’ve said basically every negative thing I can think of to say about the PC port of Blood Money, I hope you’ll come along for the ride as I proceed to gush about how much I love this particular game for the next several paragraphs.
In my case, all it takes is a few minor key rebinds, and then I’m ready for action. Fortunately, most aspects of the control scheme can be changed to suit your personal preferred play style. Because of this, I had little choice but to stick with the standard keyboard and mouse control scheme, which brings me to my final very minor gripe with the PC port of Blood Money.Įvery time I reinstall and launch this particular Hitman title, which is actually fairly often, I always find its standard control scheme to be just a bit unusual and jarring compared to what I’ve become accustomed to. I’ve attempted in the past to force the game to recognize controller inputs with programs like Xpadder, but such programs tend to take a fair amount of effort to properly set up and, at least for me, the experience just wasn’t the same.

Of course, the Steam Cloud likely didn’t exist in 2006, and I sadly don’t foresee the game’s developers going back to its code to include support for such features.Īdditionally, I would have preferred to use my Xbox 360 controller while playing, but unfortunately, the game also lacks any form of controller support. Considering the game was released in 2006, however, I feel somewhat compelled to mention that the Steam version is understandably lacking some features that would probably improve gameplay quality, but such features were likely impractical or impossible to implement at the time.įor example, to the best of my knowledge, the game currently lacks Steam Cloud save-syncing functionality, which I consider to be both a curse and a blessing for various reasons.
With that said, of course, I’ll be reviewing the PC version of Blood Money since it’s the version I can most easily access.

Thankfully, I don’t even have to dig out my old PS2 and game disc thanks to Steam. While I wait for that, I saw no harm whatsoever in revisiting and reviewing my second-favorite game in the franchise, second only to the 2016 title. I’m eagerly awaiting the release of Hitman 2 next month. Even nearly thirteen years on, it’s still a game I hold near and dear to my heart. Although it was the fourth game in the Hitman series, it was my first encounter with the franchise. I have countless fond memories of the PlayStation 2 version of IO Interactive’s 2006 title Hitman: Blood Money.
